OUR MISSION:

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection’s mission is “to equip people to grow their faith by connecting to God and others while reaching out with love.

Why does Church of the Resurrection exist?  What is our purpose? In 2017, Church of the Resurrection’s leadership and vestry reviewed our mission statement to ensure it captured our purpose clearly and was shining a clear light to guide our work and faith as a church community. After review, reflection and prayerful consideration the vestry adopted an updated mission statement to replace, “Connecting with God, Connecting with Others, Reaching out in Faith.” The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection’s updated mission is “to equip people to grow their faith by connecting to God and others while reaching out with love.

The Vestry felt a refresh of our mission statement was important to our efforts to grow our faith community and make the church even more relevant to people’s lives.  It ensures we have a clear picture of what we want to achieve and who we want to be.  Having a clear sense of purpose is critical to keep us focused and working on those areas and initiatives that will take us in the direction God is calling us to serve.

OUR VISION:

To enrich and transform lives by manifesting Jesus’ love and growing God’s Kingdom one connection at a time

We established a new mission statement to guide our goals and plans.  But understanding why we exist isn’t enough to help us plan for the future. Where are we going as church? How do we ensure we are listening to God’s call for our community?  With this in mind the Vestry decided to develop a Vision statement.  Our Vision statement describes what we want The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection to strive for in the next three to five years. The updated vision for The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection is to “Enrich and transform lives by manifesting Jesus’ love and growing God’s Kingdom one connection at a time.”

OUR VALUES:

The Vestry also determined it was important that we take the time to adopt a formal set of Values.  By formalizing and “publishing” our Values, we help newcomers understand who we are as a community. Our Values are those things that we hold most deeply – the common principles that define our culture at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. These are Our Values:

  • Open arms – we welcome all, respecting and embracing our differences as we strive to see the sacred in all people
  • Caring hearts – We strive to treat each other with care and compassion
  • Serving hands – We reach out to the under-served and the marginalized
  • Diverse voices –We [are learning] to joyfully share the Good News of Christ with the world around us by our word and example while respecting and encouraging different opinions
  • Strong CORe: We use the resources at our disposal wisely and responsibly
