2023 Annual Stewardship — Come together: change, grow, thrive

Pledge online

Pledge cards for 2023 are available in the office at church.

Each fall, we turn our attention as a community to all the blessings we have received, and how we want to take part in sharing those blessings with others in a tangible way. Core to this work of discernment is thinking about how we intend to support the life of our congregation with our money in the coming year, which we call a pledge. A helpful measure for discerning our financial giving is thinking about making a pledge that is a percentage of income, rather than a dollar amount. A tithe (10% of income) is the biblical standard of giving. For most folks, this is a goal to be reached through incremental increases spread out over years.

Annual pledges support everything we do at Church of the Resurrection, and your pledge commitments give us a financial foundation upon which to develop our programs and our budget. If you would like to make an annual pledge, please contact the church office to receive a pledge card, or you can make your pledge online here. What is Pledging All About?

First Time Pledger?

Are you new to Church of the Resurrection? No matter how you found us, we are so glad that you are here! One amazing thing about this church is that the majority of what we do as a community is made possible by your financial support. A “pledge” is a financial promise you make to the church for the coming calendar year. Most importantly, pledging is a spiritual practice of generosity and a tangible way of giving thanks to God.

Annual Pledger

Thank you for your trust and generosity in continuing to say “yes” to God and to Church of the Resurrection. We are grateful that you honor the importance of giving back a portion of the gifts that God has given to you. By leading our parish in this way, your financial support has a direct impact on the ministry we can live out together. Thank you for your consistent pledging. Our community needs your support now more than ever. How may God be calling you to grow in your practice of generosity this year?

Consistent Giver?

Consistent givers are members or regular visitors who contribute financially to the life and work of Church of the Resurrection, but do not submit a pledge card. If you are already giving consistently, know that we greatly appreciate your support! We invite you to consider making a pledge for 2022, so that we may better plan the church’s budget. Your pledge will enable Church of the Resurrection to grow ministries, expand our outreach efforts, and dream big together.

Resurrection by the Numbers

Last year we made huge strides towards achieving a balanced budget, thanks to the generosity of this community. While we are not quite there yet, we are making excellent progress even with high inflation increasing our cost to operate the church. We ask you to dig deep and prayerfully consider increasing your giving again this year. If we all do this, together we can ensure a sustainable and thriving future for our congregation.

Our community is made up of people of all ages, religious backgrounds, political positions, family configurations, ethnicities and church experience. We share a love of and connection to God and each other, a sense of meaning and belonging, a yearning to grow in our faith, and a desire to serve Christ by reaching out to others in the community. We also have a lot of fun together.

Leadership

Worship is at the heart of our life together, and Episcopal worship is rich in symbolism and tradition. At the same time, it is a contemporary expression of our belief and faith in a Living God who is present and accessible in material and ordinary things.

The Episcopal Church has a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church, and some of the first transgender priests in the Episcopal Church serve here in in the Diocese of California. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. We are delighted to offer the sacrament of marriage (and all other sacraments) to all couples, no matter their genders. We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.

GIVE NOW

Stewardship is the practice of caring for and working with all that we have. How we choose to spend our money is one sign of what is important to us, and it can be an intentional expression of gratitude for all that God has given us. A pledge is a promise most members of our church make each year for how we intend to give money to Church of the Resurrection in the next year. Annual pledges support everything we do here.
