SUMMARY:The Story of Our Campus
DESCRIPTION:During our Annual Meeting in January\, we shared that we were embarking on a big project to create a master plan for our campus. We are excited to invite you to an important step in this process. This Sunday\, July 26th at 9:00 am in the Parish Hall we will introduce a comprehensive timeline and story of our campus. \nA group of talented parishioners put together this timeline to celebrate the blessings we have received by the land we have and all the many ways we are able to engage it. And\, over the years\, it has become evident that the absence of a comprehensive campus plan has created a piecemeal approach that hasn’t allowed us to consider long-term effects or overall outcomes. By creating a master plan\, we’re changing that oversight! \nOver the last six months\, a lot of work has been going on as a team made up of Vestry and other lay leaders has been taking stock of the many groups that use our space\, and identifying needs and pains associated with our growth. We’ve begun exploring what may (and may not) be possible here. \nAs we’ve done this work of reflecting and imagining\, we’ve realized how important it is to ground ourselves in our history — to recognize the gifts that are already here\, many of which have been present since the very beginning. It is astonishing to see how much members have contributed to our buildings and grounds\, dating back to work begun in 1960. Across these decades\, lay leadership has been core to this church’s existence and flourishing. These folks’ hard work has made our beautiful church home possible today\, and now it’s our turn to discern how we will help carry it forward and make it a welcoming vibrant space for those who are not yet here. \nWe hope you will join us on the 26th to learn more about this story\, add your own memories and stories to the timeline\, and help us take this next step in creating a master plan for our campus. We’ll also be reaching out soon to gather more of your wisdom and experience with our buildings and grounds\, and how we can better serve the whole community.

SUMMARY:Immigration Vigil at Concord Immigration Court

This month’s vigil will be Tuesday\, July 28\, from 7:15 to 9:30 a.m. \nJoin us to sing and pray as we offer a ministry of presence and support. \nMost of the vigil is spent singing and holding signs expressing welcome and solidarity. Our primary purpose is to be an encouraging presence to the immigrants and their attorneys coming to their court hearings. Several attorneys have told us that they and their clients very much appreciate our presence. \nParking is available at the shopping center nearby on Willow Pass Road. \nFor more information\, contact AllSoulsImmigrationMinistry@gmail.com or connect with Teddi Alexander.

SUMMARY:Welcome back to Sunday School & Waterslide Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Please mark your calendars for Sunday August 16th when we will kick off Sunday School for another year and celebrate with our traditional “Waterslide Sunday.” All kids\, ages 2-11 are welcome to attend Sunday School in the Parish Hall (just across from the sanctuary) beginning at 10:15am. The class begins in the larger room with fun gathering activities and then moves to the smaller classroom for the Bible story and class time. The class time lasts about 40 minutes and there is plenty of space for wiggles. Parents are welcome to attend as well. \nSunday School teachers will lead the children back to church at the Passing of Peace (before communion) so they can rejoin their families. After communion\, the kids will be invited to come to the front and receive a blessing as they return back to school to start a new year. They are welcome to bring their backpacks as well. \nAfter the worship service concludes\, the church will provide a pizza lunch\, and a waterslide will be set up on the lawn. All families are welcome to participate. If you have any questions\, please let Rev. Whitney know.

SUMMARY:Peace and Justice Ministry
DESCRIPTION:The Peace and Justice Ministry group met last Thursday to continue building a foundation for supporting Peace and Justice work in our church\, neighborhood and world. This is a non-partisan group grounded in gospel values\, our Baptismal covenant\, and the General Convention resolutions of the wider Episcopal Church. \nWe reflected on concrete action Church of the Resurrection has taken in the past to support Peace and Justice initiatives\, including being a witness at the annual Clayton Pride Parade; educating through presentations on ballot propositions that present both sides of each issue; and advocacy by writing to our local representatives in support of just legislation. We look forward to deepening our involvement in these areas of witness\, education and advocacy\, and partnering with other churches and agencies to support our common work. \nA key takeaway was creating a flexible ministry that allows anyone to participate to the extent that they are interested and available. \nThe next meeting of the Peace and Justice Ministry group will be Tuesday\, August 18 at 7 p.m. in the parish hall. We will be discussing ways to witness\, educate\, advocate and act on behalf of the agencies we will support at September’s Party With a Purpose. All are welcome!
